Meet Our Staff
I received my Associates Degree in Early Childhood at Westchester Community College. I also received my Bachelors Degree at the College of New Rochelle and my MS. ED at Sarah Lawrence. Additionally, I spent several years teaching at the college level. I was fortunate enough to receive a wonderful education that has prepared me to work in the field of education, but my biggest teacher has been listening and learning from children. I continue to learn each day as they explore and make sense of the world around them. I have been working with children for over 20 years and each day I learn something new.
I am an educator and a proud mother, I truly understand the importance of building a strong relationship between school and home. When educators and teachers work together, amazing things can happen.
I started as a substitute teacher in the two’s room in the fall of 2017. I loved my time with the children so much, I became a co-teacher this year in the four’s room. I am a Christian Life Coach, Youth Group Leader and lead ministry for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. I bring great enthusiasm, positivity, tools and insight into helping children develop strong relationships to one another and God. My focus is to “raise children up in the way they should go so that even when they are older, they shall not depart.” Proverbs 22:6
Nicki is our head teacher in the 2's classroom. She brings to the classroom a sense of warmth, nurture and a love of learning. She volunteers at the Scarsdale Community Baptist Church and facilitates a weekly bible study, plans women's events and retreats and facilitates a support group for women who have been sexually abused.
Megan comes to Scarsdale Baptist Nursery School with a wealth of knowledge and experience. In addition to her BS from James Madison University, Megan has an MS in Early Childhood Education from Mercy College. She also brings her knowledge of teaching at the kindergarten level in the elementary school system. Megan is an avid reader and while she shares that love of reading with her own two children, she is also delighted to incorporate her love of reading into lessons and projects for the classroom.
Miss Joanna has been working with children in various aspects since the age of 16. With years of co-directing and choreographing theater in Westchester for Random Farms Kids Theater, nannying for families in both Thornwood and Pleasantville, and teaching dance in Dutchess County, Westchester and New York City, she quickly realized her love for educating the youth through music and movement. Joanna earned her bachelors degree from Pace University in 2015 and has since worked at local dance studios and in a classroom setting at A Child’s Dream Nursery School in New Rochelle. Recently, Joanna opened DeRosa Performing Arts Center in Eastchester where she teaches voice, dance and acting lessons to ages 2-18. Joanna is more than thrilled to spend each day with the children and has found a home here at SCBNS.
